Did you know that the 7th of July (which is today) is World Chocolate Day? Possibly not, but if you had the same affinity with chocolate that I do, then you would probably know this seemingly insignificant detail.
So here goes. Hello, my name is Jodie, I am a chocoholic and YES those empty wrappers in the photo belong to me. Which for some of you may be hard to believe, however anyone who knows me well can validate my battle with chocolate from a young age. I'm very open about my love for chocolate it and don't try to hide it. It is without a doubt my only vice.
What may be even harder to comprehend is that I easily consume to myself a family block a day which = 1.5kg per week or 78kg a year. It’s hard to fathom that I eat more than my body weight in chocolate annually! 🙀 At one time in 2008/09 I managed to get my perfect job as the Operations Manager of the Margaret River Chocolate Company. Best tasting job ever and the General Manager joked that the Gross Profit Margin of the business would go up when I left.
Honestly, chocolate tastes amazing and it does make me feel good when I am eating it, but you don’t have to have a uni degree in to determine that this volume of chocolate is not great for my body systems. I found myself eating more than ‘normal’ during the forced closure due to boredom.
Right now in this moment, I am currently at 16 days without chocolate. The first 10 days were the hardest as my body was going through withdrawals which wasn’t great but now that I am back exercising in ways that make me feel alive, I can honestly say I haven’t really missed it in the last 6 days. My skin and eyes have already brightened which always makes me feel better within myself as has the clarity in my mind.
Addictions come in all shapes and forms – workaholic, gym junkie, alcoholic, stress-head (yes some people are addicted to stress), gambling, smoking, compulsive lying, food, over-thinking, medications and drugs just to name a few. Some addictions more socially acceptable than others. But at the end of the day, anything that we are engaging in compulsively and to any extreme does not positively serve us or our highest good.
Our Universe is in a huge time of transition and now is an optimum time to let go of any form of addiction or compulsions. You may even have multiple addictions that you want to be rid of. Be gentle with yourself as you allow your body to detox, heal and re-calibrate to your highest vibration.
GOOD LUCK 🍀 on your journey to be addiction free!
